Oh Dear

Upfront, I still LOVE cycling. I do.

There’s a small matter that seems to have developed over the last couple of weeks. You remember that person I had cut out of me about seven months ago? Well my scar has started hurting and it’s a bit tender to the touch.

Ok so I got a bit of a pasting yesterday and my calves and thigh have that pleasant morning after ache but my lower abdomen feels like I’ve done about 500 crunches. I think maybe I should see a doctor eh?

This is undiscovered territory for me. 7 years ago (this week!) I had the same operation but back then I was very fat, my blood pressure was very high and the diabetes was out of control. This time all of that was gone but I haven’t really done this before and I don’t know what I should be feeling but surely it shouldn’t be hurting right now when the last 5 months have been fine?

I do know that it actually takes about 18 months for your body to fully recover from childbirth but it’s very vexing. Bugger.

First up, I don’t have an answer for you. Sorry.

However, my wife’s first caesarian was an emercancy and the cut was made in a hurry. She often complained about soreness and itchyness. Just under four years later when she had her second caesarian, this time it was planned, the surgeon too the time to make the incision carefully and get ride of any bad scar tissue. The scar has been much better since.

Maybe is wasn’t done that well or maybe you have an infection. Maybe your core is weak. Speaking to your doctor may be the best thing.
