Have I ever told you that I love cycling? No? How remiss of me. I LOVE IT. Love it love it love it. Last night at the Tyneside Vagabonds awards dinner I got a gentle chiding from a couple of members for not being much of the blogging and I replied that I have a cycling blog and I don’t do much cycling. Well actually that was a lie. I don’t do much cycling compared to before Nelly, I do quite a lot compared to some people. My rides are shorter and less frequent but I’m still riding.
What was more interesting was firstly realising that people are watching me, waiting for me to post and also that my blogroll is interesting to my friends. If I wasn’t such a lovely magnanimous blogger I’d have been very upset to hear two cyclists both very much respected by me telling me how freakin wonderful Darlobikegirl is. (it’s true, she’s flaming fantastic and you should all go click that link on my blogroll).
Hanyway.. cycling, yes I love it. Today I rode from home to a cafe to meet the saturday social riders (there was a sockfull of them out like, tonnes). Instead of taking my usual route I decided to take the scenic way. I was pootling along looking forward to a gentle ride when I rode up behind two gentlemen. We exchanged the usual pleasantries and then they asked me where I was going… Yup, then there were three. How fantastic is that? Total strangers to me. I love that. The buggers also gave me a total pasting. That’s not a bad thing, in a sadistic way I love that feeling and I’ve found myself lacking in the push yourself till it hurts then push some more mentality.
By my previous standards a 30 mile day is not much cycling but I feel good. Tired, but good.
